About
Katie Todd (she/they) has been coaching all their life - they just didn’t know it until some really amazing people helped them figure it out. In 2020, Katie undertook the intensive yearlong Professional Coaching Certification (PCC) offered by New Ventures West and became a certified integral coach. She started coaching clients that year and founded Pride Coaching, a queer-friendly coaching practice in 2022.
As a coach and human being, Katie’s mission is to support those who are building the kind of world she wants to live in. That means leaders who want to be there for their teams, queer folks and allies advocating for human rights, people who love nature and taking care of our world, and those who believe that we can do better - and doing better always starts with ourselves individually.
While Katie coaches clients of all identities, they wanted LGBTQ+ people to be able to find a coach with whom they could be wholly and authentically themselves. She invites allies and particularly organizations that consider themselves allies and who want to ensure their Inclusion efforts are supportive to their queer staff and communities to get in touch.

The short answer is because they deserve it. Statistics on LGBTQ+ professionals show they are less supported, less visible, and more likely to experience discrimination in the workplace. This is especially true for queer People of Color (POC), who experience far more discrimination and harassment, not just at work, but across all areas of their lives. (Source).
Many workplaces tout the philosophy of bringing your whole self to work, but few live up to that vision. Even in work environments claiming to be inclusive, queer - and particularly queer POC - amend their behavior in an effort to ‘fit in’ with the larger group.
As a coach, I aim to provide an environment where people truly can bring their whole selves - and to be celebrated in their unique humanity.

Absolutely not! That’s why I specifically mention allies on this website. My mission is to support the people who want to build a better world for everyone - that includes allies who support LGBTQ+ folks in their professional and personal lives. As your coach, I’ll be able to provide a safe place for you to ask questions about anything you’re confused about - and help you figure out how to be the best ally you can be while improving your leadership, honing down on your values, and living authentically.

As much or as little as you like. The most important thing to know is that your queerness is welcome and celebrated. Whether you are out and proud or keep it private, the main thing is that coaching will take place in a safe, accepting place where you can be yourself without having to worry.
How much will we actually talk about it? It depends! We may not discuss it at all if it isn’t relevant to your coaching topic, but you can still feel comfortable mentioning your partner or sharing your pronouns.
On the other hand, you may work for an LGBTQ+ focused organization and it’s a huge part of your life and your mission. All are welcome, and you are invited to bring your full self to every session.

Coaching is all about change. Most, if not all, clients seek out coaching because they are not happy with the way things are and are looking for someone to support them in seeing - and making - things different.
To me, a successful coaching engagement really comes down to whether the client experiences a shift in perspective, however small. Often, the smallest step can be just the beginning of much larger shifts, so I aim to notice, report, and celebrate all of these changes. They are important indicators of much deeper change taking place within the client’s inner world.
Interestingly, the biggest changes outwardly don’t always correlate with a related internal shift. Sometimes we take on exciting new behaviors and practices as a way to bypass the crucial inner work that has to go with it to support long-term change.
As your coach, it’s my job to assist you in uncovering what’s going on and support you toward long-term excellence, being able to course correct when you find yourself straying, and the power to generate your own ability to meet challenges and needs effectively as they come up.
